Being in a bestseller list is what an author dreams of. When it is the debut novel, as it was in my case, it was so encouraging to see it in the list of bestsellers. After all, I went through so many rounds of rejections that I lost count. The feeling of seeing the book at an airport. Or someone in a flight carrying the book… it is a magical moment.
Sometimes one stumbles across an old review or list while surfing. Here’s what I saw from The Hindu newspaper. This is really 27th August 2005. So pretty much just after the launch of the book.
The illustrations for this book were Abbey’s classnotes. The most popular one was called Ayesha’s Eyes. A very smitten Abbey draws Ayesha’s eyes and Ayesha is offended that her nose looks too big. And the professor is going to give him a D. Abbey’s repartee is in the sketch.

Social Media is a hungry beast and conntet has never been more important always has been just now it’s in front of marketers as must tweet more, get a facebook fan page, BLOG! It’s always underestimated the time it takes, even with short form, and certain personalities have a nack for it. The problem is now we’re awash in conntet and only some bubbles up. In the days of the gatekeepers our conntet was filtered by newspapers and the nightly news. So what to do now? Be interesting is one tactic and learn how to curate your own conntet and create it.
This site is like a classroom, except I don’t hate it. lol
