The Hindu's List of Bestsellers
Being in a bestseller list is what an author dreams of. When it is the debut novel, as it was in my case, it was so encouraging to see it in the list of bestsellers. After all, I went through so many rounds of rejections that I lost count. The feeling of seeing the book at an airport. Or someone in a flight carrying the book... it is a magical moment.
Sometimes one stumbles across an old review or list while surfing. Here's what I saw from The Hindu newspaper. This is really 27th August 2005. So pretty much just after the launch of the book.
The illustrations for this book were Abbey's classnotes. The most popular one was called Ayesha's Eyes. A very smitten Abbey draws Ayesha's eyes and Ayesha is offended that her nose looks too big. And the professor is going to give him a D. Abbey's repartee is in the sketch.
