Brilliant stuff. Everyone can identify with the topic and can vouch for its authenticity. But few people can write with such fluidity. Great stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Hi Abhijit,

Just happened to tresspass your Linkedin profile and then couldn't resist sneaking into your website and glad I was that I committed the sin. Great writing, and having seen a lot of "HEs" and "HIS" reviews, can relate to it very well.

Your acetates anecdote reminded me of something different. I had joined this firm as a fresher from a B-school and a senior manager had just got transferred from that office to a plant location. The senior manager talked me into taking the whole acetates file from the HR Director's office ( all the HR goody stuff that the HRD had collected over the years) and made me phototcopy all of them when HRD was travelling.

I did manage to give him loads of photocopies but also gifted him a burnt drum and quite a few burnt acetates to take to the plant location.

I digress. Brilliant writing.

Best regards,
Shailesh

Superb, Abhijit! Your protagonist's unpretentious style of narration makes us relish every moment in the story despite the mundane predictability of the theme (a standard corporate review).

Hi Abhijit

Well I could sense your heartfelt thanks to powerpoint because I belong to a generation which has not seen the acetate era. Infact I have not seen cyclostyle also. However I belong to an era in which spreadsheets were taking over from the manual tables and if you know how to set a template on a powerpoint you were on the CEO's merit list. I started my career with a "MNC" which was more Indian in its approach to IT spending and training than a throoughbred Indian company. We were in a process to headhunt a VP Sales from a MNC company which had just entered India and was in oil and gas. Before he took the final plunge , the VP wanted to visit the offices and meet the sales team. I was given the responsibilty to show him around. While I was introducing him to sales coordinator , Mr. Sharma , the VP asked , so Mr. Sharma you are working in MS Office and pat came the reply - No sir I work in Regional Sales Office.
